Electric motorway: The UK Highways Agency (HA) plans to test wireless charging of EVs when travelling on a motorway. So far, HA has not given details but has issued criteria like a lifecycle comparable to that of asphalt (+16 years), cost-effective maintenance, and charging at high speeds.

Urban electric freight: ‘EMILIA’ (Electric Mobility for Innovative Freight Logistics in Austria) is a project by the Austrian Institute looking at ways to electrify freight transport in cities. The Climate and Energyfund and the Austrian ministry of technology support EMILIA with 2.6 million euros. The project will end in 2017 with a demonstration phase implementing all sizes of electric vehicles including electric cargo trikes.

Canada approves BYD e-bus: The electric bus made in China is now allowed to go on sale and operation in Canada as it received the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) certificate and has been put on the ‘Vehicle Manufacturers Registry‘ with Transport Canada.
