Home chargers not free anymore: The UK Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has reduced its grant by a 100 pounds from former 1,000, causing British Gas to now install EV home charging stations for a charge of 115 pounds. Renault UK announced however, that its 7-kW wallbox will remain free of charge, even though it is installed by British Gas.

Electric cabs for England: It seems as Nottingham is ahead of London as local taxi company DG Cars adds six Nissan Leafs to its fleet. In total, the firm is running with 650 cars and plans to add more EVs over time depending on customer reactions and actual savings.

Free charging points for companies is utility provider Public Service Electric & Gas giving away in a programme in New Jersey. Its pilot project is designed to encourage companies to erect charging stations at the workplace. In two years, up to 150 units are set to be installed with no cost for the employer.

Nebraska on charge: South Sioux City already has a Leaf in its fleet and is about to add three more with the help of a government grant. The then four electric cars will have to share the only two public charging stations in the city: one at the Billion Auto dealership, the other at the Hy Vee supermarket.

The BMW i3 REx is to be exempt from New Jersey’s usual automotive sales tax. The decision comes last-minute, as before the electric BMW was to be taxed because of its on-board petrol engine. Some dealerships in the state had offered discounts effectively taking out the tax before the law changed.
