EV expert to lead Nissan in Europe: The Japanese carmaker has appointed Nobusuke Toukura as the head of its European technical center in British Cranfield. Toukura played a key role in the development of Li-ion batteries, EV systems, and fuel cells.

Tesla-DTesla battery safety patent: The EV maker has filed a patent for a device designed for “charging batteries safely” as it detects and prevents short circuits on cell level. The idea involves a battery management system able to identify the single problematic cell, so Tesla could just swap the module and repair it rather than risking the car catching fire. The patent application has now been released.
