P.B. Balaji será el nuevo CEO de JLR
Only days after announcing the departure of the old CEO, Adrian Mardell, JLR is welcoming its newest leader, P.B. Balaji. Balaji has worked for the Group as Chief Financial Officer of the Tata Motors Group since November 2017.
Adrian Mardell initially joined JLR in 1990, which did not exist in its current form at the time, but was only created in 2013 following the takeover of Land Rover by Jaguar. Both companies had previously been acquired by the Indian group Tata Motors in 2008. Mardell was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2019. Following the dimisión del director general Thierry Bolloré, Mardell was initially appointed as CEO on an interim basis and then permanentemente en julio de 2023.
As the new CEO, Balaji is bringing plenty of experience with him: JLR writes that he “led large, diverse, global teams in multi‑cultural environments out of Mumbai, London, Singapore and Switzerland,” as well as having been a part of the “successful transformation at the Tata Motors Group.”
“I would like to thank Adrian for the stellar turnaround of JLR and for delivering record results,” said Mr Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Jaguar Land Rover PLC, Tata Motors and Tata Sons, of the outgoing CEO. He also had some words of welcome for the new appointment: “I am delighted to appoint Balaji as the incoming CEO of the company. The search for a suitable candidate to lead JLR has been undertaken by the Board for the past few months and after careful consideration it was decided to appoint Balaji. He has been associated with the Company for the past many years and is familiar with the Company, its strategy and has been working with the JLR leadership team.”
Balaji also had something to say about his appointment: “It is my privilege to lead this incredible company. Over the past 8 years I have grown to know and love this company and its redoubtable global brands. I look forward to working with the team to take it to even greater heights. I thank Adrian for his immense contributions and wish him well for his next innings.”
