Norway’s only trolleybus line faces closure
The ten trolleybuses currently operating in Bergen were only introduced in 2018. They are Solaris vehicles and run on Bergen’s sole trolleybus route, which is also the only overhead line bus route in the entire country. The decision to retire them is apparently not due to the vehicles themselves, but rather infrastructure issues, according to the portal Buss Magasinet.
It emerged that part of the system, supplied by Škoda Electric, was incorrectly installed by a contractor with no prior experience in trolleybus systems. The faulty installation reportedly causes popping noises and sparking, while significantly driving up costs.
