Primera innovación Ora en dos años: GWM lanza la preventa de la Ora 05 en China
Until now, GWM subsidiary Ora had focused primarily on compact city cars como the 03 and hatchback sedans such as the 07. Their trademark was a rounded design with big eyes and a healthy dose of retro influence. The Chinese carmaker has followed the same design formula for its first SUV, the new Ora 05.
The 05 is Ora’s first new model in two years. Its big eyes and the light strip integrated into the rear window reveal its family affiliation at first glance. However, certain parallels with Porsche SUVs are also apparent. Following its presentation in September, GWM has now started pre-sales of the Ora 05 in China.
Affordable SUV for urban areas
With a length of 4.47 metres, a width of 1.83 metres, a height of 1.64 metres and a wheelbase of 2.72 metres, it fits into the compact SUV segment. There, it is primarily aimed at price-conscious customers and will compete with rivals such as the Leapmotor B10, the Geely Galaxy E5 and the BYD Yuan Plus. The Ora 05 can be pre-ordered for 109,800 yuan, or the equivalent of around 13,300 euros. There are five variants in total. The price range extends up to 142,800 yuan (around 17,300 euros).

When it comes to the motor, the front axle is equipped with a 150 kW electric motor, which enables a top speed of 170 kph. The motor is powered by an LFP battery with a capacity of 45.3 or 58.3 kWh, depending on the version. This gives it a CLTC range of 480 or 580 kilometres. Depending on the equipment variant, the SUV weighs 1.5 or 1.6 tonnes.
The interior reflects the Chinese industry standard: The most important driving information is displayed on a 10.25-inch display, while the central touchscreen measures 15.6 inches and boasts an impressive 2.5 resolution. The in-house ‘Coffee OS’ infotainment system includes the ‘Deep Seek’ large language model, among other features. It is not yet clear whether the model will also be launched in Europe at a later date.
