TerraE sigue as\u00ed a otros actores del pa\u00eds que siguen haciendo caso omiso del llamamiento del gobierno para que aporten su granito de arena.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Aun as\u00ed, Peter Altmaier, Ministro Federal de Econom\u00eda, no se ha dado por vencido y ha anunciado la presentaci\u00f3n de un nuevo consorcio de producci\u00f3n de pilas el 13 de noviembre, seg\u00fan informa\u00a0<em>Tagesspiegel<\/em> peri\u00f3dico. Se ha dicho que Varta Microbattery Systems y Ford forman parte del consorcio, pero a\u00fan no se ha confirmado.<\/p>\n<p>Y hubo noticias a\u00fan m\u00e1s extra\u00f1as de que el ministro supuestamente hab\u00eda prometido a la compa\u00f1\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica RWE una considerable cantidad de dinero si constru\u00eda una f\u00e1brica de bater\u00edas y renunciaba por fin a la miner\u00eda del carb\u00f3n. Esto \u00faltimo ha sido el motivo de una disputa en curso entre activistas medioambientales y RWE por una zona boscosa llamada Hambacher Forst.<\/p>\n<p>Pero volvamos a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2017\/05\/23\/terrae-volkswagen-eindhoven\/\">TerraE<\/a> - el conglomerado formado por 20 empresas, desde productoras a especialistas en qu\u00edmica, pasando por BMZ y StreetScooter, ha fracasado. Inicialmente planearon instalar una planta de bater\u00edas no muy diferente a la Gigafactor\u00eda de Tesla cuando se reunieron en mayo de 2017. La idea era aumentar la capacidad hasta alcanzar los 34 GWh en 2028. Bosch had estimated it would require 20 billion euros to set up a meaningful factory and still it would be uncertain if it would be enough to compete with established suppliers in Asia (we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2018\/02\/28\/bosch-says-no-battery-cell-production-europe\/\">reported<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The German government however, has moved having cell production facilities in the country up the agenda regardlessly. Only last month, Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2018\/09\/10\/germany-to-pour-billions-into-battery-cell-production\/\">Altmaier proposed<\/a> the construction of two large-scale factories, funded with a billion euro each. His call echoes the European Commission that has started to shape a European Battery Alliance (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2018\/02\/25\/european-battery-alliance-eba-taking-shape\/\">EBA<\/a>) not unlike Airbus earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>While the EC is vaguely calling for a &#8220;green battery&#8221; that adheres to EU standards in order to set it apart from Asian competitors, the industry is pointing to a technological solution, namely solid-state batteries. The German government has reserved funding for this as well. 16 million euros are to form a new research cluster <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2018\/10\/08\/germany-funding-solid-state-battery-research\/\">reportedly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, if Germany will ever become big in batteries is uncertain. On the European level, players such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2018\/02\/13\/northvolt-secures-support-european-investment-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northvolt<\/a>\u00a0of Sweden or Saft of France, that set up a cooperation with Siemens, Manz and Solvay are moving ahead and want to develop (solid-state) batteries with EU funding (we\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2018\/02\/22\/battery-producer-saft-cooperate-siemens-solvay-mans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>).
