Mientras tanto, la regi\u00f3n flamenca de B\u00e9lgica ha anunciado que suspender\u00e1 su programa de subvenciones para veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos a partir de enero de 2020.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>En B\u00e9lgica, los representantes parlamentarios de la regi\u00f3n de la capital independiente han aprobado la versi\u00f3n final del plan de protecci\u00f3n del clima de la ciudad, que incluye la prohibici\u00f3n de los veh\u00edculos di\u00e9sel a partir de 2030 y de los veh\u00edculos de gasolina a partir de 2035. Los veh\u00edculos motorizados de dos ruedas tambi\u00e9n estar\u00e1n sujetos a las prohibiciones y las motocicletas m\u00e1s contaminantes se prohibir\u00e1n a partir de 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Actualmente, la capital belga y sede del Parlamento Europeo tiene una infraestructura notoriamente mala para los ciclistas y un transporte p\u00fablico inadecuado. Siendo m\u00e1s concretos, extrapolaron: \"Ya hoy, Bruselas va muy retrasada, por ejemplo en el despliegue de la infraestructura de recarga esencial\".<\/p>\n<p>Mientras que Cathy Macharis, del Centro de Estudios Urbanos de la BUV, coincidi\u00f3 en que \"necesitamos m\u00e1s estaciones de recarga, y r\u00e1pido. Las empresas tambi\u00e9n van a tener que instalar estaciones de recarga\". The suggestion now is that drivers be taxed according to their use rather than ownership \u2013 the more you drive, the higher the tax. But these changes will only be possible via Belgium&#8217;s famously cumbersome federal parliament.<\/p>\n<p>The capital district is now leading the way in fossil fuel legislation over the other two Belgian districts. In the Flanders region, however, bicycle use and infrastructure, for example, is much higher. Flanders has just sworn in a new state government, who has kicked off their term by cancelling the current 4,000 euro purchasing premium for electric at the turn of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The reason given is the low demand for the subsidies to date. Specifically, despite 3,600 purchases of electric vehicles last year, only 415 applications were submitted for the premium. In the first half of 2019, however, the number of applications has exceeded the meagre number 593 applications from last year. A total of 6.5 million people live in the Flemish region of Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>In the Brussels region, the ban on combustion vehicles is meant to help reduce CO2 emissions there by 40 per cent by 2030 and achieve complete decarbonisation by 2050 \u2013 in line with the goals of the European Union. The capital region comprises 19 municipalities including the city of Brussels with a total population of 1.2 million.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>Bloomberg<\/em> statistics, 24 European cities with 62 million inhabitants have now decided to phase out diesel cars in the long term. 13 of these cities want to ban both diesel and petrol vehicles.
