MG Motors announced plans to develop an improved battery for their upcoming electric SUV ZS EV in India, which will feature a 73 kWh capacity and a theoretical range of 500 km. The manufacturer added that it will weigh the same as the current 44.6 kWh version.<\/p>\n
The official launch of the ZS EV will take place in January, and will likely be priced around Rs 25 lakh (just under \u20ac32,000). Initially, the electric SUV will be available with the previously mentioned 44.6 kWh battery, allowing for a range of range 340 km. The formerly British company now under SAIC’s ownership plans to release four electric vehicles in India over the next two years, two of which will be SUVs. <\/span><\/p>\n MG has also made some partnerships to facilitate the construction of charging infrastructure, including Fortum, Delta Electronics India and eChargeBays.<\/p>\n Additionally, MG Motor also explained that they are developing a battery-electric vehicle for India’s markets. The concept, once developed, will be marketed at an affordable price to enable it to become “mainstream”. As managing director Rajeev Chaba explains: “If an EV has to become mainstream, the price point has to be less than Rs 10 lakh [\u20ac12,700] \u2026 The team has started looking at it, the concept is being studied, it will take one year to complete the project.”<\/p>\n
