Seat ha anunciado que iniciar\u00e1 la producci\u00f3n de veh\u00edculos puramente el\u00e9ctricos en su planta principal de Martorell (Espa\u00f1a) a partir de 2025. La marca espa\u00f1ola est\u00e1 destinando 5.000 millones de euros a proyectos de I+D para nuevas instalaciones, equipos y modelos. Seat ha decidido que el el-Born<\/a>, el primer modelo el\u00e9ctrico de Seat basado en la plataforma del Grupo MEB, se lanzar\u00e1 como modelo Cupra en 2021. La filial espa\u00f1ola de VW present\u00f3 el el-Born en el Sal\u00f3n del Autom\u00f3vil de Ginebra de 2019 como contrapartida del VW ID.3, aunque en aquel momento a\u00fan era un estudio. A pesar de haber sido rebautizado como Cupra el-Born, el coche ser\u00e1 fabricado por VW en la planta MEB de Zwickau, pero no hasta 2021.
