La ubicaci\u00f3n del centro de investigaci\u00f3n de bater\u00edas no es una coincidencia, por supuesto.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>El nuevo BITC va a \"intensificar las colaboraciones existentes con CATL\", afirm\u00f3 el instituto alem\u00e1n. El proveedor chino de bater\u00edas en expansi\u00f3n es <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2019\/10\/19\/catl-inicia-la-construccion-de-una-planta-de-baterias-en-alemania\/\">actualmente construyendo<\/a> su primera planta de producci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas fuera de China en el pol\u00edgono industrial \"Erfurter Kreuz\" y espera tener la producci\u00f3n en marcha a principios de 2022.<\/p>\n<p>El gigante chino de fabricaci\u00f3n de bater\u00edas invertir\u00e1 1.800 millones de euros en el emplazamiento a medio plazo como <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2019\/06\/26\/el-catl-aumenta-masivamente-sus-inversiones-en-erfurt\/\">anunciado el verano pasado<\/a>. \"En muchos aspectos, el proyecto es una inversi\u00f3n superlativa\", coment\u00f3 entonces el ministro de Econom\u00eda de Turingia, Wolfgang Tiefensee, que lleva promocionando el emplazamiento desde principios de 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n al dar ahora la bienvenida al nuevo centro de I+D de bater\u00edas de Fraunhofer, el ministro subray\u00f3 la \"enorme importancia\" de la investigaci\u00f3n de producci\u00f3n prevista \"para el desarrollo de nuevas capacidades industriales en Turingia y especialmente en el este de Alemania\".<\/p>\n<p>El estado de Turingia apoya el desarrollo del centro durante los pr\u00f3ximos cinco a\u00f1os. El complejo de edificios con aproximadamente 5000 m\u00b2 de espacio para uso de Fraunhofer IKTS es propiedad de la Corporaci\u00f3n Estatal de Desarrollo de Turingia (LEG). In other words, they will test ceramic materials, the IKTS&#8217; speciality, among other things, using the latest sensor technology and non-destructive testing methods. Another focus is on scaling of any production, Fraunhofer here speaks of components in &#8220;quantities in excess of millions of units&#8221; while maintaining consistent quality.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, CATL is not everything. &#8220;The great strength of the BITC lies in its development-oriented cooperation with Thuringian companies and research institutions. This allows us to pool our expertise directly at the battery cell production site,&#8221; emphasizes BITC Director Dr Roland Weidl. Fraunhofer says that collaboration is planned with the Technische Universit\u00e4t Ilmenau, the universities in Jena and Gera-Eisenach and with &#8220;highly specialized&#8221; but not further named SMEs in the region. Also, the centre will train skilled workers and teach industry 4.0 concepts in battery production and other branches of industry. The latter makes sense in a location, with existing infrastructure (think Autobahn access) and all German car manufacturers within reach in under four hours.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, CATL is also progressing its research in China. The company has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/06\/25\/catl-invests-millions-in-new-battery-research-centre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">just begun<\/a> construction of an innovation facility at its headquarters in Ningde in the eastern Chinese province of Fujian. Named 21C Lab, the centre will see the further development of metal lithium batteries, pure semiconductor batteries and sodium-ion batteries, but also focus on the commercial exploitation of its technology.
