In their press release, GM explained that &#8220;With fast charging available where people typically spend 15-30 minutes, customers can charge their vehicles in the time it takes to run their errands.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The first of the new charging stations, most of which will apparently be able to charge at least four vehicles simultaneously, will be available to customers from early 2021. GM customers will not have any price advantage over other customers as Zoi explains, &#8220;Today, a typical EVgo session costs between $5 and $15. It will be the same thing going forward.&#8221; The charging points will be open to any brand with CCS Combo plug. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2019\/08\/22\/electrify-america-or-evgo-allow-drivers-mutual-access\/\">Last year, EVgo and Electrify America<\/a> announced that they would allow customers mutual access to their respective networks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/tag\/EVgo\/\">EVgo<\/a> says it will continue to install new charging stations outside of the collaboration and currently says they have more than 800 fast-charging locations in 34 states in the US. The collaboration between EVgo and GM illustrates GM&#8217;s broader strategy of offering local fast-charging facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Barra, GM Chairman and CEO said: &#8220;Our relationship with EVgo will bolster the public fast-charging network available to EV customers ahead of increased market demand and reinforce our commitment to an all-electric, zero-emissions future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The installation of the charging stations should be completed by 2025. General Motors said in their press release that &#8220;The heart of GM\u2019s strategy is a modular propulsion system and a highly flexible global EV platform powered by proprietary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/tag\/Ultium\/\">Ultium batteries<\/a>, allowing the company to compete for nearly every customer in the market today, whether they are looking for affordable transportation, a luxury experience, work trucks or a high-performance machine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Update 11 November 2021:<\/h3>\n<p>EVgo and General Motors have now decided to expand their build plan and to add another 500 high-powered DC fast charging stalls. This brings the total number of HPCs to 3,250 through 2025 and means that the geographic reach of the network will expand from 40 metropolitan markets to 52.
