The two companies see that this will support customer acceptance of hydrogen power in the transport market.<\/p>\n<p>Albrecht Neumann from Siemens Mobility explained that their business model goes much further than just selling H2 fuel cell trains: &#8220;Together with Siemens Energy, we can even offer hydrogen as a \u2018hydrogen as a service\u2019 model for a train\u2019s service life&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the two companies will jointly develop a standardized hydrogen infrastructure solution for fueling the hydrogen-powered trains of Siemens Mobility followed by pilot projects and real-world customer projects. A concrete timetable for development and pilot projects has not yet been announced.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Siemens Mobility already offers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/03\/17\/siemens-to-deliver-20-battery-electric-trains\/\">battery-electric trains<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/09\/15\/db-cargo-orders-up-to-400-hybrid-trains-from-siemens\/\">hybrid locomotives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of fuel cell trains, Alstom has been making the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/10\/04\/nl-alstom-fuel-cell-train-fully-viable-to-replace-diesel-lines\/\">news most recently<\/a> as the Netherlands declared their solution a &#8220;fully viable alternative&#8221; to diesel trains.
