Adem\u00e1s, se espera que en breve entre en producci\u00f3n en serie un c\u00e1todo con mayor contenido de n\u00edquel.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Las nuevas c\u00e9lulas, de las que SKI da poca informaci\u00f3n sobre la qu\u00edmica, deber\u00e1n estar completamente desarrolladas a m\u00e1s tardar en el primer semestre de 2021. Seg\u00fan la empresa, \"podr\u00e1n desempe\u00f1ar un papel importante en la difusi\u00f3n de los veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos\". El anuncio, que se hizo en la conferencia sobre bater\u00edas InterBattery patrocinada por el gobierno surcoreano, se limit\u00f3 a decir que las nuevas c\u00e9lulas est\u00e1n dise\u00f1adas para m\u00e1s de 1.000 ciclos de carga y van a tener densidades de energ\u00eda m\u00e1s altas.<\/p>\n<p>SK Innovation es conocida por ser la<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2020\/09\/22\/sk-innovation-contrata-personal-para-nuevas-plantas-en-ee-uu\/\"> proveedor de c\u00e9lulas para el VW ID.4<\/a> de la producci\u00f3n estadounidense. Est\u00e1 previsto que la producci\u00f3n del VW ID.4 comience en el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2019\/11\/13\/vw-inicia-la-construccion-de-una-planta-de-produccion-en-ee-uu\/\">Planta de Chattanooga en 2022<\/a>, lo que significa que es posible, al menos en t\u00e9rminos de calendario, que este tipo de c\u00e9lula se utilice en el SUV el\u00e9ctrico de Volkswagen.<\/p>\n<p>SK Innovation hab\u00eda decidido concentrar sus esfuerzos de desarrollo en \"bater\u00edas de larga duraci\u00f3n que permitan viajes de larga distancia\". SKI has not provided further details about this theoretical trip in the communication. Assuming that the battery was fully charged at the start of the trip and that the two stops for charging do not reach 100 per cent SoC, this would still mean that during a ten-minute stop for charging, electricity would flow into the battery for an estimated 150 to 200 kilometres.<\/p>\n<p>SKI became somewhat more concrete with a long-distance battery, which is said to have already achieved a range of 1,000 kilometres under optimal driving conditions during a test drive. The core is to be a NCM9\u00bd\u00bd cathode, i.e. with a higher nickel content than the NCM622 and NCM811. Conversely, the proportion of cobalt and manganese will drop to five per cent each. The new cathode is apparently soon to go into series production.<\/p>\n<p>An update on the legal dispute with LG Chem whereby both South Korean companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/08\/31\/the-korean-battery-giants-battle-on\/\">accuse each other of patent infringement<\/a> was not explicitly mentioned in the announcement. Nevertheless, it appears the company could not refrain from taking a dig at its South Korean competitors. The press release states that SKI has been supplying batteries for electric cars and plug-in hybrids for ten years, &#8220;without a single battery fire&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/10\/08\/hyundai-recalls-25000-kona-models-in-korea\/\">Hyundai Kona Electric<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/10\/16\/bolt-battery-troubles\/\">Chevrolet Bolt EV<\/a> have recently experienced problems with vehicle fires. Both models rely on battery cells from LG Chem, and LG is aware of its responsibility, at least in the case of the Kona. However, it must also be said that SK Innovation has not yet produced EV battery cells in the same size as Panasonic, LG Chem or CATL.
