Tesla quiere que Livent suministre mayores cantidades que en 2020 y una nueva mina de litio va a ayudar en este sentido, pero est\u00e1 plagada de riesgos.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>La noticia se conoci\u00f3 en el marco de los resultados del tercer trimestre de Livent, que no facilit\u00f3 los vol\u00famenes exactos del acuerdo. El comunicado habla de una pr\u00f3rroga de un a\u00f1o y Livent a\u00f1adi\u00f3 que estaba discutiendo el marco para una asociaci\u00f3n de suministro a largo plazo con Tesla m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Al mismo tiempo, el productor de litio con sede en Filadelfia tambi\u00e9n anunci\u00f3 su intenci\u00f3n de unirse a un proyecto canadiense de litio como parte de un consorcio con el objetivo de adquirir Nemaska Lithium Inc. Still, Livent&#8217;s third-quarter revenues were higher than in the second quarter due to an increase in lithium hydroxide volumes.<\/p>\n<p>At Tesla, there will certainly be no shortage of demand and other raw materials as they gear up to deliver half a million electric cars this year. The company has begun sourcing as locally as possible and said as much on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/09\/23\/tesla-battery-day-tabless-4680-cell-and-in-house-production\/\">Battery Day<\/a> and subsequent earning calls. In North America, Giga Metal had been on the list of potential suppliers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/09\/12\/tesla-could-buy-nickel-from-canadas-giga-metal\/\">reportedly<\/a> with Brazil&#8217;s Vale mining company that followed suit to supply Nickel from a mine in Canada. Vale has nickel production facilities in three Canadian provinces. The Voisey&#8217;s Bay operation is to be converted to underground mining and will produce 40,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate per year.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk had repeatedly called for Nickel. At the same time, the Tesla boss put expectations into perspective, when adding that they &#8220;don\u2019t want to be constrained by nickel availability&#8221;.
