La instalaci\u00f3n, valorada en 22 millones de d\u00f3lares, probar\u00e1 y validar\u00e1 c\u00e9lulas y paquetes de bater\u00edas de veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos para la regi\u00f3n de Norteam\u00e9rica.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>El <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2020\/08\/13\/vw-esta-construyendo-un-laboratorio-de-alta-tension-en-chattanooga\/\">ampliaci\u00f3n en la planta de Volkwagen en Chattanooga<\/a> en el estado de Tennessee est\u00e1 en pleno apogeo desde agosto. La empresa se est\u00e1 preparando para lanzar aqu\u00ed el VW ID.4 en grandes cantidades. The company wants to get cells for MEB production in Tennessee from a new battery plant from the Korean cell supplier SK Innovation in the neighbouring US state of Georgia. So Volkswagen will test and optimise Georgia-manufactured battery cells at the new lab, as the manufacturer now confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>The decision followed earlier issues when SK Innovation was prohibited from importing critical components into the USA in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/02\/17\/court-decision-thaws-frost-between-korean-battery-giants\/\">legal dispute with its Korean competitor LG Chem<\/a>. The resolution appears preliminary though with the final ruling by the ITC now expected in December. Initial reports had expected a decision in late October. Roh Woo-ho, an analyst at Mertiz Securities interviewed by <em>Reuters<\/em>, said the delay could indicate the ITC &#8220;is facing difficulties making the final determination on the case, considering the impact it will bring to industrial issues in the United States including job issues.&#8221; Ford too expects to rely on cells made by SK Innovation in Georgia and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/11\/11\/ford-builds-out-us-plants-for-production-of-evs\/\">currently building out<\/a> its American plants for electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen did confirm US production of the ID.4 all-electric SUV to begin in 2022. The current information did not disclose a date for completion of the battery lab.
