Para 2025, el fabricante de autom\u00f3viles estadounidense quiere contar con 30 modelos el\u00e9ctricos y pretende elevar la inversi\u00f3n de 20.000 a 27.000 millones de d\u00f3lares.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Esos veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos cubrir\u00edan una amplia gama, desde menos de $30.000 hasta m\u00e1s de $100.000, con el objetivo de \"poner a todo el mundo en un veh\u00edculo el\u00e9ctrico\", dijo Barra a los periodistas e inversores durante una conferencia el jueves.<\/p>\n<p>Treinta modelos suponen un aumento respecto al objetivo inicial de GM de 20 modelos el\u00e9ctricos para 2023. Tambi\u00e9n dijo que GM quiere vender m\u00e1s de un mill\u00f3n de VE en Estados Unidos y China para 2025. Ser\u00e1 un largo camino, dado que el fabricante de autom\u00f3viles ha vendido actualmente menos de 100.000 BEV con su Chevy Bolt, seg\u00fan <em>Electrek<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Otra cuesti\u00f3n es si ser\u00e1 suficiente el aumento de la inversi\u00f3n anunciado ahora del 35%, hasta $27.000 millones para 2023. En el segmento de los veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos de gran volumen, GM compite naturalmente con Volkswagen. La corporaci\u00f3n alemana en su <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2020\/11\/14\/volkswagen-reserva-35-000-millones-de-euros-para-la-movilidad-electrica\/\">\u00faltimo presupuesto<\/a> para el periodo de 2021 a 2025, reserva 35.000 millones de euros para la e-movilidad como parte del gasto global de 73.000 millones de euros en \"temas orientados al futuro\" que tambi\u00e9n incluyen la hibridaci\u00f3n y la digitalizaci\u00f3n. 35.000 millones de euros equivalen a 41.500 millones de d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n<p>GM y VW tambi\u00e9n compiten en China, donde VW lanzar\u00e1 el ID.3 en 2021 como <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2020\/11\/19\/volkswagen-planea-fabricar-y-vender-el-id-3-en-china\/\">inform\u00f3<\/a>. GM now claims an electric driving range of up to 450 miles on a single charge, up from 400 previously stated.<\/p>\n<p>The second generation of Ultium batteries, available mid-decade, should close most of the cost gap with gasoline engines, GM global product development chief Doug Parks told reporters. That is when GM expects to double energy density while reducing costs by 60 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>GM will rely on LG Chem to increase battery-making capacity at the plant in northeast Ohio. The carmaker will also introduce more plants in which it builds electric vehicles, Barra said.<\/p>\n<p>The company also stated to continue &#8220;to explore third-party licensing&#8221; for the Ultium architecture along with its Hydrotec fuel cell technology developed with Honda.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about a spinoff of GM\u2019s skateboard or battery operations, Barra said, &#8220;We don\u2019t think it has to be separated.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the CEO emphasised the advantages she sees in integrating internal combustion and electric vehicles, noting that EVs can share up to 70% of the components used in conventional cars.<\/p>\n<p>Product development echoed the strategy. &#8220;GM\u2019s EV development times are speeding up, and costs are going down rapidly, so we expect our Ultium EV programs to be profitable from the first generation on,&#8221; said Parks. &#8220;It\u2019s not just the cost and performance of our innovative EV components that will give us a competitive advantage in a fast-changing industry, but how we integrate them with other advanced systems like Super Cruise, our Vehicle Intelligence Platform electrical architecture and other technologies pioneered in our traditional portfolio.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>GM also said it was creating an umbrella organisation for its electric vehicle and digital marketing efforts called Ultifi.<\/p>\n<p>After Barra announced the accelerated rollout of electric models and investments, GM shares moved into positive territory.
