La startup californiana planea empezar a vender las pilas de combustible a clientes aeroespaciales y de eVTOL ya en 2022.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>HyPoint se fund\u00f3 en 2019 y suministra a la empresa de aviones de emisiones cero <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/etiqueta-2\/zeroavia\/\">ZeroAvia<\/a> entre otros. El sistema de pila de combustible de HyPoint para la aviaci\u00f3n se anunci\u00f3 por primera vez en junio del a\u00f1o pasado. Ahora la startup puede revelar las cifras clave de su pila de combustible HTPEM (membrana de intercambio prot\u00f3nico de alta temperatura) que la empresa denomina \"pila de combustible turbo-refrigerada\". Seg\u00fan la empresa, el sistema alcanza hasta 2.000 vatios por kilogramo de potencia espec\u00edfica y una densidad energ\u00e9tica de hasta 1.500 vatios hora por kilogramo.<\/p>\n<p>El planteamiento de HyPoint se basa en el uso de aire comprimido tanto para la refrigeraci\u00f3n como para el suministro de ox\u00edgeno a la HTPEM, que seg\u00fan el desarrollador ser\u00e1 tres veces m\u00e1s ligera que los sistemas comparables de pilas de combustible de baja temperatura (LTPEM) refrigeradas por l\u00edquido. Tambi\u00e9n se dice que la soluci\u00f3n utiliza una serie de innovaciones t\u00e9cnicas, como placas bipolares ligeras y un revestimiento conductor resistente a la corrosi\u00f3n. In the last 12 months alone has seen enormous interest in hydrogen fuel cell technology, most specifically in areas that are unsuitable for purely battery electric power alone. In November last year, the US Department of Energy (DOE) released its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/11\/16\/us-department-of-energy-releases-hydrogen-program-plan\/\">Hydrogen Program Plan<\/a> which focuses on hard-to-decarbonise sectors such as aviation, as well as long-haul trucking and maritime applications, just a few months earlier the EU Commission released its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/07\/08\/eu-reveals-strategy-for-energy-systems-and-hydrogen\/\">Strategy for Energy Systems and Hydrogen<\/a>, making it clear that the use of hydrogen in transport \u201cshould be utilised in cases where electrification is not feasible,&#8221; identifying aviation as one such field. Although electrification is possible and already happening with small aircraft, commercial aircraft and longer flights are a different question altogether.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing the functioning prototype, HyPoint iterates its ongoing collaboration with ZeroAvia as an OEM partner. In June 2020, there was also talk of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/06\/12\/urban-aeronautics-is-planning-an-h2-fuel-cell-vtol\/\">cooperation with the Israeli air taxi developer Urban Aeronautics<\/a>, although this cooperation is not mentioned in HyPoint&#8217;s current announcement.
