Seat anunci\u00f3 el objetivo junto con su nuevo \"veh\u00edculo el\u00e9ctrico urbano\" en la conferencia de prensa anual de la empresa.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>El nuevo veh\u00edculo urbano de Seat, un min\u00fasculo coche el\u00e9ctrico, por el momento s\u00f3lo existe como boceto conceptual. Visto de perfil, el modelo, a\u00fan sin nombre, recuerda m\u00e1s a un Honda e que al tr\u00edo de coches peque\u00f1os del Grupo: VW e-Up, Skoda Citigo-e iV y Seat Mii el\u00e9ctrico. Aparte del rango de precios de 20.000 a 25.000 euros y un estreno previsto para 2025, no se ha confirmado ning\u00fan detalle sobre el veh\u00edculo.<\/p>\n<p>En 2025, la filial de VW tiene previsto fabricar medio mill\u00f3n de coches el\u00e9ctricos en su planta principal cerca de Barcelona, seg\u00fan anunci\u00f3 el jefe de Seat, Wayne Griffiths, en la conferencia de prensa anual. \"El volumen exacto depender\u00e1 de cu\u00e1ntas marcas lancen veh\u00edculos de entrada de gama en la fase inicial. Volkswagen, Skoda y posiblemente en el futuro Audi participar\u00e1n en el proyecto, y despu\u00e9s habr\u00eda una segunda fase hacia 2030\", a\u00f1adi\u00f3 el directivo.<\/p>\n<p>Queda por ver qu\u00e9 modelos se construir\u00e1n exactamente en Seat, ya que \"veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos urbanos\" es una definici\u00f3n bastante amplia. Esto podr\u00eda significar que el coche el\u00e9ctrico peque\u00f1o que, seg\u00fan los rumores actuales, est\u00e1 siendo desarrollado por <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2020\/12\/08\/vw-se-hace-con-la-mayoria-de-la-empresa-conjunta-con-jac\/\">Volkswagen Anhui en China<\/a>. Despu\u00e9s de que la producci\u00f3n del VW ID.2 y de un v\u00e1stago de Seat\/Cupra haya comenzado en China, ambos modelos podr\u00edan fabricarse tambi\u00e9n en Martorell a partir de 2025, seg\u00fan los rumores.<\/p>\n<p>Seat dice ahora que designar\u00eda la planta de producci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola para fabricar el veh\u00edculo en los pr\u00f3ximos meses. Adem\u00e1s, Seat no s\u00f3lo quiere producir veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos \"sino tambi\u00e9n liderar el desarrollo de todo el proyecto para el Grupo Volkswagen\". Here, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2021\/03\/05\/spain-considers-public-private-partnership-for-battery-plant\/\">the battery factory in the Barcelona area<\/a> also plays an important role. &#8220;We\u2019ve drawn up the plan, we have the right partners on-board, and we\u2019re generally ready to invest. This project is intended to become the driver for the transformation of the Spanish automotive industry,&#8221; Griffiths added. &#8220;The support of the Spanish Government and the EU Commission for this cross-sectorial and the nation-wide plan is needed for the Volkswagen Group to be able to take the final decision on its execution,&#8221; Griffiths concludes.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2021\/02\/23\/seat-announces-cupra-born-to-release-in-second-half-of-2021\/\">Born, the first electric car<\/a> from the Cupra sub-brand, is due to be launched at the end of 2021. This will be the counterpart to the VW. ID.3 Pro S, the Born will be built together with the ID.3 in Zwickau. In addition, Griffiths confirmed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/10\/26\/seat-working-on-serial-version-of-cupra-tavascan\/\">the Cupra Tavascan will be built<\/a> in series from 2024. The model is an independently designed offshoot of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/tag\/ID.5\/\">VW ID.5<\/a>. The MEB SUV coup\u00e9 is to be launched &#8220;in Europe and overseas&#8221;. Griffiths did not specify which plant this would come from.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Overseas&#8221; here could really include sales countries on the other side of the globe: Cupra is due to launch in Australia from 2022, where preparations are apparently already underway. &#8220;Australia is a young market, and Cupra is a young brand. Customers are looking for new brands, there is a high middle-class income, and it is a progressive society. We are confident that Cupra can be successful in this country,&#8221; Griffiths says.<\/p>\n<p>For Seat, 2020 was a damper on the British CEO&#8217;s growth plans because of the Corona crisis. The Spanish brand reported minus 418 million euros for 2020 (2019: 352 million euros) in terms of operating profit.
