Se trata de un hito para la empresa, ya que cumpli\u00f3 el requisito para que Volkswagen AG invirtiera otros $100Mn.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>VW hab\u00eda anunciado la inversi\u00f3n de $200 millones (170 millones de euros) el pasado mes de junio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2020\/06\/16\/volkswagen-invierte-200-millones-en-quantumscape\/\">seg\u00fan se informa<\/a>pero en aquel momento s\u00f3lo desembols\u00f3 el primer tramo. Los californianos tambi\u00e9n afirmaron que las c\u00e9lulas permitir\u00edan una carga del 80% en 15 minutos y m\u00e1s de un 80% de capacidad restante de la bater\u00eda tras 800 ciclos. Whether these cells were the same tested for VW was not announced officially but is likely.<\/p>\n<p>In February, QuantumScape had announced the construction of a pilot plant called QS-0 in San Jos\u00e9, California. A few days ago, the company also issued 13 million new shares as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2021\/03\/25\/quantumscape-to-open-second-pilot-plant\/\">reported<\/a>. At the time, the announcement to the SEC included plans for a second pilot plant named QS-1 to be built together with VW. The planned capacity is one GWh with an expansion to 21 GWh for series production. The site of the second battery cell plant is unknown at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen had announced plans for a unified battery cell format in 80 per cent of its electric vehicles by 2030 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2021\/03\/15\/power-day-volkswagen-plans-standard-battery-cell-new-battery-plants-fast-charging-points-and-bidirectional-charging\/\">&#8216;Power Day&#8217;<\/a> in March. The prismatic cell can host different cell chemistries (LFP, NMC and high-manganese cathodes) adapted to the specific vehicle. At the time, Blome described solid-state batteries as the ultimate goal and targeted a charge time of &#8220;just 12 minutes&#8221; for an 80 per cent charge. Blome added that QuantumScape had managed the proof-of-concept but has yet to overcome hurdles on the way to industrialisation.<\/p>\n<p>Volkswagen and QuantumScape have been working together since 2012; prior to a 100-million dollar investment in 2018, VW already held five per cent of QuantumScape.
