La medida forma parte de una inversi\u00f3n anual de 5 millones de libras en una flota de recogida m\u00e1s limpia. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>La inversi\u00f3n de Grundon combina la conversi\u00f3n de sus veh\u00edculos di\u00e9sel existentes en el\u00e9ctricos y la compra de nuevos camiones de residuos BEV a Scania, de los que hablaremos m\u00e1s adelante.<\/p>\n<p>Por ahora, la primera EV ya opera desde su base de Colnbrook, atendiendo a clientes de todo Londres y el valle del T\u00e1mesis. Los residuos que recoge cada d\u00eda van directamente a la instalaci\u00f3n de Grundon de obtenci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda a partir de residuos (EfW) de Lakeside. Seg\u00fan Grundon, genera electricidad \"m\u00e1s que suficiente\" para cargar el veh\u00edculo y prepararlo para las recogidas del d\u00eda siguiente, adem\u00e1s de ofrecer cifras concretas: Por cada tonelada de residuos no reciclables depositada, la EfW genera unos 620 kW de energ\u00eda. Dado que cada veh\u00edculo el\u00e9ctrico recoge una media de cinco toneladas de residuos por ronda, la EfW puede generar 3.100kW al d\u00eda por veh\u00edculo. Si se reservan 280kW para recargar cada veh\u00edculo, a\u00fan quedan otros 2.820kW diarios de electricidad para exportar a la red nacional, suficiente para abastecer a una casa de tama\u00f1o medio durante un a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>Su presidente, Neil Grundon, a\u00f1adi\u00f3 que se trata de \"un ejemplo perfecto de la econom\u00eda circular en acci\u00f3n, y creemos que es la primera vez que una empresa de residuos presenta un programa tan innovador y con tanta visi\u00f3n de futuro\".<\/p>\n<p>Un segundo cami\u00f3n de basura el\u00e9ctrico est\u00e1 en funcionamiento en el dep\u00f3sito de Bristol. Grundon a\u00f1ade que un tercero iniciar\u00e1 en breve las recogidas en Reading y Newbury, en Berkshire. Otros dos veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos se instalar\u00e1n en Colnbrook y Bristol en los pr\u00f3ximos meses, con lo que la flota de veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos ascender\u00e1 a cinco. However, an earlier deployment of electric waste trucks in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2021\/05\/26\/scania-builds-15-electric-rubbish-trucks-for-copenhagen\/\">Copenhagen<\/a> may add some detail. Scania based the garbage collection trucks there on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2020\/11\/27\/scania-announces-market-launch-of-bev-phev-trucks\/\">electric heavy-duty model<\/a> launched in November 2020, namely the Scania 25 L variant with 230 kW continuous and 295 kW peak power.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2022\/09\/08\/scania-to-dump-the-combustion-engine-by-2040\/\">September 2022<\/a>, Scania announced it would launch only battery-electric vehicles from 2040, effectively phasing out diesel engines. Christian Levin, President and CEO of Scania and CEO of Volkswagen&#8217;s Traton, added that they were &#8220;the only truck manufacturer to go so far as to question the diesel engine as early as 2040.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Grundon is equally committed to achieving net zero. &#8220;Our plan is to purchase further electric vehicles, as well as investing heavily in alternative fuels and looking at further hybrid options,&#8221; said Director Smith.
