Las nuevas normas pretenden fomentar una econom\u00eda circular regulando todo tipo de bater\u00edas, incluidas las de los veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos, a lo largo de su ciclo de vida. \"Esta iniciativa es de gran importancia, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta el desarrollo masivo de la movilidad el\u00e9ctrica. Se espera que la demanda de bater\u00edas se multiplique por m\u00e1s de diez de aqu\u00ed a 2030\", prev\u00e9 el Consejo de la UE.<\/p>\n<p>El trasfondo del contenido del reglamento, que ya fue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2023\/06\/14\/el-parlamento-de-la-ue-aprueba-una-amplia-regulacion-del-mercado-de-pilas\/\">aprobado previamente<\/a> y que ahora tambi\u00e9n se ha lanzado formalmente, son las propuestas de criterios obligatorios de sostenibilidad para las pilas presentadas por la Comisi\u00f3n de la UE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/es\/2020\/12\/10\/la-ue-anuncia-criterios-de-sostenibilidad-para-las-pilas\/\">a finales de 2020<\/a>. Curiosamente, en lo que respecta a las cuotas de reciclaje que se enumeran a continuaci\u00f3n, el acuerdo alcanzado por el Parlamento y el Consejo va ahora m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las especificaciones redactadas inicialmente por la Comisi\u00f3n. El nuevo reglamento sustituir\u00e1 a la actual Directiva de 2006 sobre pilas y complementar\u00e1 la legislaci\u00f3n vigente, sobre todo en el \u00e1mbito de la gesti\u00f3n de residuos.<\/p>\n<p>Los puntos clave del Reglamento de la UE sobre pilas son una declaraci\u00f3n y un etiquetado obligatorios, entre otros, sobre los componentes de las pilas y su contenido reciclado, as\u00ed como un \"pasaporte de pilas\" electr\u00f3nico y un c\u00f3digo QR. The minimum requirements are to take effect eight years after the regulation comes into force, likely in 2031, and amount to 16 per cent for cobalt, 85 per cent for lead and six per cent each for lithium and nickel. Thirteen years after entry into force &#8211; so probably 2036 &#8211; they will rise to 26 per cent for cobalt, 12 per cent for lithium and 15 per cent for nickel. The lead quota will remain identical.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements for stricter due diligence obligations for battery players in the environmental and social areas accompany the criteria. In future, market participants will have to check the origin of the raw materials they use and the working conditions in their supply chain. However, as envisaged, there is an exception for small and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Batteries are key to the decarbonisation process and the EU&#8217;s shift towards zero-emission modes of transport. At the same time end-of-life batteries contain many valuable resources and we must be able to reuse those critical raw materials instead of relying on third countries for supplies. The new rules will promote the competitiveness of European industry and ensure new batteries are sustainable and contribute to the green transition,&#8221; said Teresa Ribera, Spanish Minister for the Transition to a Green Economy.<\/p>\n<h3>Update 31 July 2023<\/h3>\n<p>The new EU Battery Regulation was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on July 28. It will officially enter into force on the 20th day after this publication date, on 17 August 2023.
