However, no decision has been made as to whether Exxon will mine the lithium there itself or bring in a partner. This is where Albemarle could come into play. The company itself was somewhat evasive but did not deny the assertions, saying in a statement that: &#8220;Given Albemarle\u2019s leadership role in the market, people routinely want to speak with us \u2014 especially when looking at potential resources.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Exxon has previously mentioned the \u201cnatural synergy\u201d between lithium production from brine and oil and gas mining.
