Tesla est\u00e1 ganando la carrera estadounidense por la financiaci\u00f3n federal de infraestructuras gracias a una importante ventaja en costes. Seg\u00fan el Wall Street Journal<\/em>, a Tesla se le han adjudicado m\u00e1s emplazamientos que a ninguna otra empresa para ayudar a construir la red nacional de recarga r\u00e1pida.<\/p>\n

Citando datos de la empresa de an\u00e1lisis EVAdoption<\/em>, Tesla se ha hecho con cerca del 18% de los emplazamientos en cinco estados de EE UU. WSJ<\/em> escribe que el 8,5% de los $77 millones de financiaci\u00f3n concedidos hasta ahora han ido a parar a Tesla.<\/p>\n

La raz\u00f3n principal es que el fabricante de veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos est\u00e1 construyendo estaciones de recarga m\u00e1s baratas y m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidas que sus competidores. Tesla cotiza unos $392.000 por emplazamiento frente a los 795.000 euros de media que ofertan otros OPC. Un ejemplo de Maine desenterrado por el peri\u00f3dico muestra lo dram\u00e1tica que es la ventaja de costes: Tesla incurri\u00f3 en costes de hardware de $17.000 por cargador r\u00e1pido, frente a los $130.000 de otra empresa no identificada.<\/p>\n

Tesla tambi\u00e9n planea m\u00e1s cargadores r\u00e1pidos por ubicaci\u00f3n (normalmente ocho, a veces doce, en l\u00ednea con sus puestos Supercharger). In turn, most carmakers have jumped on the Tesla train and will install Tesla’s own NACS connectors in their US models. Ford<\/a>,\u00a0General Motors<\/a>,\u00a0Volvo Cars<\/a>,\u00a0Polestar<\/a>,\u00a0Rivian<\/a>,\u00a0Nissan<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Mercedes-Benz<\/a> announced that they would adopt Tesla’s NACS; so far, the timeline has always been the same: from 2024, charging at the Superchargers will be possible via an adapter, then from 2025, with full NACS integration.<\/p>\n

In yet another turn, states like Kentucky and possibly Washington and Texas, reportedly<\/a> require charging infrastructure providers to implement the Tesla charging system as a condition of receiving state funding.<\/p>\n

As for federal funding, some states are starting to release the first wave of about $5 billion intended for a national EV charging network along American highways. The 2021 federal infrastructure law approved the money that is being released over five years.<\/p>\n

To unlock the \u2018National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure’ funding, NEVI<\/a> for short, all 50 states of America, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico had to submit EV infrastructure deployment plans to access NEVI funding.<\/p>\n

In Ohio, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Maine and Colorado, the money has arrived and this is where Tesla took 18 per cent in funding for its charging hubs.<\/p>\n

Other winners include large US convenience stores and truck stops since they own property at highway exits. They have largely avoided significant charging investments while the nascent industry remains unprofitable, writes WSJ<\/em>, but are applying for funding to help launch themselves into selling electricity as fuel. Many plan to join with EV-charging networks, including Tesla, to build and operate equipment on their properties. This is similar to what is happening at BP and Shell in Europe. BP aims to invest $1 billion in EV charging in the US by 2030.<\/p>\n

Around 73% of the locations chosen were convenience stores or truck stops, according to EVAdoption.<\/p>\n

President Biden aims to have 500,000 public chargers in the ground by 2030, up from almost 145,000 now, including slower chargers. This is part of the one-trillion-dollar bipartisan infrastructure law released in November 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n
