The size of the grant varies by the type of vehicle being purchased and applies to new vehicles only. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Pedelecs: \u20ac500 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Cargo Pedelecs, Mopeds, Motorcycles: \u20ac2,000, but not more than 80% of retail price<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Tricycles, Quadricycles, Heavy Quadricycles: 25% of CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight value). A minimum of \u20ac2,000, capped at \u20ac6,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Cars with up to 9 seats &amp; vans up to 3500kg: \u20ac8000, if sale price is up to \u20ac40,000, or \u20ac6,000, if the sale price is over \u20ac40,000 but below \u20ac100,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph \">Additionally, drivers can take advantage of the government&#8217;s vehicle scrappage grant, which pays up to \u20ac500 for mopeds or motorcycles and up to \u20ac1,000 for cars and vans. This comes with some caveats, namely that the scrapped vehicle must be at least 10 years old on the date of scrappage; must be licensed with Transport Malta before scrappage or purchase of a new vehicle; and must be destroyed at an authorised demolition facility. Customers must then produce a valid destruction certificate dated between 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph \">This means if someone were to buy a new electric car worth \u20ac40,000 and scrap their current vehicle, they would only pay \u20ac31,000 in total, thanks to \u20ac9000 of total grant funding. Additionally, drivers with an older vehicle registered on Gozo &#8211; Malta&#8217;s second-largest island &#8211; are eligible for an additional scrappage grant of \u20ac1,000, further bringing down costs.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"ad-space\" >\n      <div class=\"ad-space-block\">\n      <div class=\"adspace not-mobile rectangle-4\" id=\"article-content-1\"><\/div>\n      <div class=\"adspace not-desktop topmobile-2\" id=\"article-content-1-mobile\"><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph \">In a statement, Malta&#8217;s transport ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transport.gov.mt\/GG.pdf-f10407\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>: &#8220;The scheme aims at reducing the number of older conventional motor vehicles from the road [&#8230;] The grant will remain available until the 31st of December 2025 or until the budgeted funds are exhausted.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph \">This year&#8217;s grant program <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/2024\/02\/05\/malta-extends-ev-subsidy-scheme\/\">follows a similar incentive scheme<\/a> in 2024, which saw the Maltese government earmark \u20ac15m for the purchase of new electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transport.gov.mt\/Land\/Sustainable-Transport\/Grant-Scheme-On-New-Electric-Vehicles-and-Pedelecs\/2025-Scheme-for-New-Electric-Vehicles-and-Pedelecs-7136\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">transport.gov.mt<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El nuevo programa de subvenciones forma parte de un sistema m\u00e1s amplio de incentivos para la adopci\u00f3n del VE, cuyos fondos se asignar\u00e1n a lo largo de 2025.
