Spanning 1260 square meters, the new charging hub features 47 charging points. 15 of these are classed as ‘ultra-fast’; which here refers to seven 350kW chargers and eight 240kW. The Madrid authorities state that all of these can charge 80-per cent battery capacity in under 15 minutes or provide 200km of range in five minutes of connection. There’s a further ten 60kW fast chargers and 22 ‘semi-fast’ chargers with 22kW of power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charging points were installed by Iberdrola Espa\u00f1a, which will also be responsible for operation and maintenance of the charging park. It will join Iberdrola’s wider network of 9500 public charging points across Spain, all of which use renewable energy. The new charging park is no different on this; there’s a total of 47 parking spaces equipped with solar panels to help provide energy for the chargers as well as for housing in the surrounding area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charging park is located on public land between the four aforementioned cities, covering a population of around 750,000 inhabitants. It’s also in proximity to nearby highways including the M-406 (north), M-407 (west), M-409 (east), and the M-50 (south), and is next door to the commuter train station of Parque Polvoranca. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antonio Armengot, Iberdrola Clientes representative for Madrid, commented: “Electric mobility requires public-private partnerships to advance residents’ wellbeing and contribute to improving air quality in cities and their sustainable development. At Iberdrola Espa\u00f1a we were pioneers in our commitment to electric mobility and today we are leaders in public charging with more than 9,500 points in operation located on major roads and cities, as well as in small towns and back roads.”<\/p>\n\n\n

The charging park was inaugurated by the Regional Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel \u00c1ngel Garc\u00eda Mart\u00edn. He stated: “This electric car park adds to the one already in Pozuelo de Alarc\u00f3n and the one recently announced by the president on Paseo de la Castellana, which consolidates the leadership that the [Madrid authorities] has in Spain on sustainable mobility. This is a major step for Legan\u00e9s, as well as a success and a source of pride for the region.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new charging park was funded under the MOVES Singular Projects II Programme under the EU-funded Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
