The Flex Plus is the first to use ChargePoint’s new AC charging architecture<\/a>. This brings a number of new features under one banner, including ‘Vehicle-to-everything’ (V2X) charging capabilities, dynamic load balancing, smart home integration, and ‘ultra-fast’ AC charging of up to 19.2kW. ChargePoint state that dynamic load balancing in particular is beneficial for EV charging, as it can automatically accelerate charging speeds when power isn’t needed elsewhere in the home. The Flex Plus also has a backplate mounting system which means it can be easily moved between houses – making the charger a portable asset for fleets to redeploy based on need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ChargePoint has also outlined how the Driver Management Solution will integrate with the Flex Plus charger, stating that it can “accurately [automate] reimbursement for home charging” using a built-in meter. The software can also be used for consolidated VAT invoicing, public charging and driver onboarding. ChargePoint states that it will also enable fleet managers to manage driver groups, assign charging rules to specific segments and oversee fleet-wide activity from a central dashboard. <\/p>\n\n\n

On the driver side, there are a number of benefits proposed for users of company cars. There’s reportedly a relatively quick installation process, although ChargePoint hasn’t shared much information on how long this takes; plus the fact it streamlines overnight charging. The Driver Management Solution also permits drivers to find, use and pay for public charging while out on the road using an app or the dashboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hossein Kazemi, CTO for hardware at ChargePoint, said: “Fleet managers and company car drivers require a seamless experience to fully embrace their electric vehicles. The new Flex Plus charger pairs with ChargePoint’s Driver Management Solution to automatically reimburse company car drivers for home charging, making it easy for drivers and fleet managers to go electric.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
