We hope to bring what they\u2019re doing in Europe to the U.S.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Don Swearingen, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America, feels optimistic about the future of PHEVs. He believes the biggest problem for the American market is education and expects that when consumers understand the technology, they&#8217;ll be more inclined to make the switch.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/wardsauto.com\/engines\/despite-lack-demand-mitsubishi-debuts-new-phev\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wardsauto.com<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-55862\" src=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/media\/2014\/01\/anonym.jpg\" alt=\"anonym\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" title=\"\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t like the idea of free parking and other perks for people who can afford brand new cars, leaving those who can&#8217;t afford this luxury to carry the cost. I fear that in order to balance the books parking charges will go up and bus subsidies will come down.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Conservative group leader Edith Bald expresses concern that the well-intended measures will backfire, as there are already not enough parking spaces in UK&#8217;s Central Milton Keynes. The local council plans to offer free parking to EV owners as part of their bid to become a &#8220;Go Ultra Low City.&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.onemk.co.uk\/Conservatives-concerned-parking-costs-rise-Milton\/story-29018375-detail\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">onemk.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-66073\" src=\"https:\/\/www.electrive.com\/media\/2015\/07\/Ian-Callum.jpg\" alt=\"Ian-Callum\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" title=\"\">&#8220;Within two years, we&#8217;ll have something that&#8217;s not driven by a petrol engine.&#8221;<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Jaguar brand design director Ian Callum inadvertently confirmed that the company is working on an electric model<em>.<\/em> <em>Autoguide<\/em> also reports that the company filed patents for the EV-type name, and for I-Type and I-Pace models.
