Mercedes will utilise the engineering power of its Formula 1 team to accelerate their advance in the electric racing series which they will enter next year. Their engine base at British Brixworth will now “expand its scope of attention to include the unique challenges of Formula E”.<\/p>\n
For Mercedes it will be their first Formula E entry comes 2019 and the German manufacturer will quit the DTM at the end of 2018 to focus on the all-electric series. In order to repeat their success, they will employ their F1 team to develop the electric powertrain for their electric race cars.<\/p>\n
The Mercedes team will receive further support from F1 base in Brackley whilst longtime factory partner HWA, which is entering Formula E as a Venturi customer team next season will also extend its support on the track.<\/p>\n
Says head of Mercedes motorsport, Toto Wolff: “The combined know-how of the Mercedes family at Affalterbach [HWA], Brixworth and Brackley provides the perfect foundations for our new Mercedes EQ Formula E team.”<\/p>\n
Mercedes will compete in the Formula E racing series from next season.<\/p>\n
