ACC granted funding to make batteries in Germany
ACC, the Franco-German initiative comprising PSA, Opel and Saft, has received funding notifications from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMVi) and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate to start constructing a battery cell factory in Germany as part of the EU’s Battery IPCEI.
UK: AMTE Power leads gov’ funded EV battery project ULTRA
UK battery cell manufacturer AMTE Power says it has been appointed to lead a new government-funded project preparing two of its battery cells for large scale manufacture and testing with leading automotive manufacturers. Project ULTRA is funded with five million pounds.
China: BYD to build 20 GWh battery plant in Bengbu
BYD is planning a new factory for electric vehicle batteries with an annual production capacity of 20 GWh in the city of Bengbu in Anhui province, China. The total investment for the production facility is expected to amount to six billion yuan, about 750 million euros.
German battery cell manufacturing plans pick up steam
Applications closed last Friday for the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology’s call for proposals for the development of battery cell production. The Ministry has now issued its first official statement: More than 30 companies from across the value chain have participated in proposal submissions.
