Britishvolt begins construction on Blyth factory

Preliminary work has begun on Britishvolt’s battery cell factory in the northern English county of Northumberland. The actual construction of the production facility is scheduled for late autumn or early winter of this year. The planning permission for the large-scale project is dated 6 July 2021.

SK Innovation subsidized for Hungarian battery plant

The South Korean battery cell manufacturer SK Innovation received a subsidy of 90 million euros from the Hungarian government for its second plant in the country. The prerequisite was that the EU Commission give the green light for the state aid, which has now happened.

Nissan confirms Sunderland battery plant & new BEV model

Nissan has now officially confirmed that Envision AESC will build a battery factory at its plant in Sunderland, England. A new electric model will also be produced there in the future. Both announcements are part of a £1 billion initiative by Nissan and Envision AESC called EV36Zero.

LG aims for 110 GWh cell production in the USA by 2025

The South Korean battery cell manufacturer LG Energy Solution has announced that it will invest more than 4.5 billion US dollars (just under 3.8 billion euros) by 2025 to expand its production capacities in the USA by 70 GWh to 110 GWh. At least two new factories are planned.

QuantumScape sets up pilot plant for solid-state batteries

The solid-state battery specialist and Volkswagen partner QuantumScape has announced in the context of the announcement of its business figures that it will build a pilot plant in San José, California. Called QS-0, the plant is expected to be capable of producing over 100,000 units of solid-state cells per year.
