Bird may come crashing down
After withdrawing from Germany and other countries, the US bike & scooter rental company Bird announced that its sales for the last two years were overstated due to incorrect bookings. A bankruptcy filing cannot be ruled out.

Bird to withdraw from some markets due to supply issues
Bird says it has decided “to fully exit three European countries (Germany, Sweden, and Norway), and to wind down operations in several dozen additional” without specifying which. Bird adds that a lack of regulatory frameworks, resulted in an oversupply of vehicles, making it difficult to compete.

Micromobility providers Voi, Bird and Spin have entered into a cooperation with Google. In scores of cities, electric scooters, and, in the base of Bird, also e-bike sharing services are now integrated into Google Maps.

Hundreds of scooters lie deep in the river Rhine
In Germany, divers have discovered more than 500 e-scooters at the bottom of the river Rhine. Local TV station WDR said rioters had thrown them into the river from a bridge in downtown Cologne. As if not disturbing enough, the divers also discovered something else.

Bird to double its fleet of electric scooters in Europe
Bird has announced plans to invest 125 million euros in expanding its offering in Europe. The micromobility provider plans to double its presence in Europe over the spring and summer by relaunching in 50 cities and expanding its offering in existing cities.

No Bird in Bahrain
Bird has discontinued its electric scooter sharing services in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. While Bird itself describes this as a “business interruption”, rumour has it that they have been sold off again.

New York legalises e-bikes, pedelecs & kick-scooters
New York City has officially legalised the use of pedelecs up to 20 mph, e-bikes up to 25 mph and electric kick scooters up to 15 mph top speeds. This seems the end to New York’s battle to keep electric bikes off the streets.

Montréal says no to kick-scooters
Many cities have struggled with the adoption of electric scooters and the micromobility vehicles have had a mixed, often negative response. Now a city is throwing in the towel: After a pilot project last year, Montréal is now banning electric kick scooters from the city.
