Scotland outlines climate goals: The Scottish government announced that it wants to lower CO2 emissions by 66 percent by 2032 (compared to 1990). German charging unification: BMW, Daimler, Ford and VW with Porsche and Audi officially declared to build a CCS ultra fast-charging network together. The joint venture will fund 350 kW charging stations along the Autobahn and other European key routes. Construction is to start next year at an initial 400 locations for a rapid recharge. Austria finalises mobility plan: Some 16,000 new EVs are to hit the road by 2018, and Austria is digging into its pockets to get the ball rolling. From January, it will subsidise all-electric cars with 4,000 euros (3,000 euros for businesses), and plug-in hybrids with 1,500 euros. All vehicles must be recharged using 100 percent renewable energy, the base price must be less than 50,000 euros and the electric range has to be at least 40 km. Moreover, license plates with green writing will give EVs special privileges, like free parking. Two-wheelers, all-electric utility vehicles, wallboxes, intelligent charging cables and public EV chargers also qualify for some form of subsidies.

C-Max successor: According to German Autobild, Ford is working on a new SUV based on its Ford Focus, said to be unveiled next year and replace the Van Focus C-Max. The car only has space for the driver and boasts 1,000 hp. It is basically an all-electric Batmobil, which will never make it to serial production in its current form. A peak under the hood is still worthwhile. The so-called Virable Platform Architecture (VPA) is said to allow FF to quickly build a number of different EVs.
