Mercedes begins producing components for the eActros

The German aggregate plants of Mercedes-Benz are starting production of central components for the battery-electric eActros. These include the e-axle and the battery packs, which will be manufactured and assembled at the Gaggenau, Kassel and Mannheim locations.

Australia Post orders 20 Fuso eCanter delivery BEVs

Australia Post continues to green its fleets with the addition of 20 Fuso eCanter trucks. The mail service expects the vans to hit the road in October and says it is among the first clients. Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) launched the eCanter in Australia in April.

California looks at fuel cell trucking requirements

The Californian Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP), a coalition of government and multinational industry partners, have released a new foundational document for heavy-duty class 8 fuel cell electric trucks. The policy recommendation envisages 70,000 trucks supported by 200 heavy-duty truck stations by 2035.

Daimler Truck to build electric and fuel cell trucks in Wörth

Daimler Truck has made an important location decision for its electric trucks. In future, further battery-electric and fuel cell trucks are to be built in series at the Wörth plant. Accordingly, Daimler Truck will continue to invest “substantially” in the location in the coming years.

Mercedes reveals serial eActros with 400km range

Mercedes-Benz Trucks today presented the series version of the eActros. The battery-electric truck for heavy-duty distribution has noticeably improved performance data compared to the prototypes that were tested by customers for a good two years. Series production is scheduled to start in the second half of the year in Wörth.

IPCEI to fund 12 European hydrogen mobility projects

The German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Technology (BMWI) and the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (BMVI) have selected 62 major projects to receive government funding as part of a joint European hydrogen project (Hydrogen IPCEI). Daimler Trucks partners with CATL, Shell, Siemens, Engie & EVBox

CATL will supply batteries for the production version of the announced Mercedes-Benz eActros LongHaul from 2024 onwards. Daimler’s commercial vehicle division has also entered into its own collaborations with Engie, EVBox, Siemens Smart Infrastructure for EV infrastructure and Shell for fuel cell truck infrastructure.

Daimler plans street testing with the GenH2 Truck

Daimler Trucks just began intensive testing of the advanced prototype of its fuel cell truck GenH2 Truck, which was unveiled in September 2020. The prototype is still making the rounds on a test track, but soon it will also be on public roads.

Mercedes-Benz has started the second test phase of the eActros “innovation fleet”: Customers will now test the electric truck in everyday use. The first eActros of the second phase will be supplied by the Dutch logistics service provider Simon Loos.
