Infinitum Electric expands with heavy-duty EV motors
In the USA, Texas-based Infinitum Electric, creator of an air-core motor for commercial and industrial vehicle segements has secured $80 million in a Series D funding round. This brings the company’s total funding to $135 million.

Webasto and E.C.E cooperate on electric construction machines
Webasto has joined with the Dutch start-up Electric Construction Equipment (E.C.E) in the electrification of construction machinery. The two partners are planning the conversion of two excavator models for which Webasto is to supply an exchangeable battery package.

BAM Infra Nederland has commissioned Wirtgen and New Electric to convert an asphalt spreading machine into a fully-electric asphalt paver. The use of this machine is to save more than 93,000 kilograms of CO₂ and 115,000 grams of nitrogen oxide emissions.

Maeda & Deutz reveal all-electric crawler crane
German motor manufacturer Deutz has joined forces with Japanese crane manufacturer Maeda to unveil the all-electric CC 1485 crawler crane. Deutz plans to start series production of the electric drive in 2023. Deutz has also announced a whole new ‘Green’ segment, including marine drives and batteries.

Akasol provides batteries for KTEG excavators
In Germany, the battery maker Akasol has concluded a framework agreement with construction vehicle maker KTEG GmbH for the supply of the AKASystem OEM PRC battery system. KTEG will use it to equip over one hundred small excavators of the type KTEG ZE85. The framework agreement is valid up to and including 2023.

JCB reveals H2 excavator prototype
JCB has just presented its prototype of a hydrogen-powered excavator. According to the manufacturer, the 20-tonne 220X excavator equipped with a fuel cell system is the first of its kind in the industry. The excavator has been tested on JCB’s test site for more than a year.
