London updates rapid-charging for electric cabs
The Mayor of London marks the installation of the 100th fast-charging station in the UK capital. 51 of those charge points are reserved for electric black cabs. Also London’s boroughs say they’ve made progress in their patchy EV infrastructure.
Uber Green launches with Renault Zoe in Bucharest
Ride hailing app provider Uber has launched its EV-only suite in Romania’s capital. 20 Renault Zoe have become available to book in cooperation with charging infrastructure firm ElDrive. The service is available in selected European capitals.
E.ON supports electric cabs in Sweden
30 Renault Zoe have arrived in the Swedish capital where cab provider Taxi Stockholm is working to electrify its fleet. The entire charging infrastructure has been provided by utility E.On and includes the provision of electricity from renewables.

Hydrogen from renewables: In its push to make fuel cell vehicles emission-free, the Japanese government started an initiative for H2 from renewable sources. The Environment Ministry initially intends to set up 100 units across Japan by 2019. The first five stations will go up within the next two months. 75 percent of the cost is covered by the government on the condition that benefactors like companies and authorities use FCVs as official vehicles.
The million miles milestone has been reached by an electric cab service in Scottish Dundee. 203020 Electric introduced a fleet of 30 Nissan Leaf cabs only last April and is delighted to have reached its target ahead of schedule. Drivers save up to 120 GBP a week in fuel costs and the company looks to expand.
Electric patrol: The police in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, has replaced ten Ford Crown Vics with Toyota Camry Hybrids. The city thus saves about three percent of its annual budget and enables officers to approach silently. As Ford discontinued the traditional Crown Vic, carmakers are rushing in to fill the gap.
Next-gen EV charger: ClipperCreek has upgraded its Level 2 home charging EV station. The updated LCS-20 now features 16 Amp charging and a longer cable, while the price of 379 dollars for the hardwired model and 395 dollars for all four plug-in models remains the same.
