Volta Trucks gathers 37 million euros
Swedish electric truck start-up Volta Trucks has raised 37 million euros in its Series B funding round. Pre-orders for the Volta Zero now exceed 2,500 vehicles with an order value of more than 600 million euros and have doubled in the last three months.
Forest River & Lightning partner up on e-buses
Forest River, which is the largest maker of shuttle buses in North America, and Lightning eMotors that specialises in electric commercial vehicles for fleets, have announced a strategic partnership worth approximately $850 million. The partners aim to put up to 7,500 electric shuttle buses on roads in the US and Canada by 2025.
Canadian government funds charging infrastructure
This week, the Canadian government announced a total investment of over $32 million (CAD) to install 853 electric vehicle charging points across the country. The initiative should also raise public awareness about zero-emission vehicles and advance green transportation initiatives.
Scania builds 15 electric rubbish trucks for Copenhagen
In Denmark, the City of Copenhagen has ordered 15 electric refuse collection trucks from the manufacturer Scania. The order is part of the city’s plan to achieve climate neutrality by 2025 and, as part of this, to procure at least 100 all-electric refuse collection vehicles by 2025.
Renault offers more battery options for electric trucks
Renault Trucks has announced new battery options for its all-electric D Z.E. (16-tonne) and D Wide Z.E. (26-tonne) truck models. The trucks previously equipped with 50 kWh modules can now be ordered with 66 kWh modules. With the Master Z.E. electric van, the battery remains the same, but the payload is optionally increased.
ASKO orders up to 75 electric trucks from Scania
Norway’s largest food wholesaler ASKO has committed to order up to 75 battery-electric trucks from Scania over the next three years. For its part, the Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer intends further to detail the plans for its battery-powered trucks this year.
Goupil presents 2.5-tonne electric transporter
Goupil has now introduced prototypes of their new electric van, the G6. At the Solutrans trade fair in Lyon, the French manufacturer of light electric vehicles presented the model in two versions – with a box body and as a tipper truck.
DAF unveils 3-axle electric garbage disposal truck
The Dutch manufacturer DAF now also offers its CF Electric electric truck as a three-axle truck with a gross vehicle weight of 28 tonnes. The first examples will be tested this year as refuse trucks by the Dutch waste disposal companies HVC and ROVA.
BYD delivers 9 electric garbage trucks to Brazil
BYD has delivered nine electric trucks to the Rio de Janeiro municipal cleaning company Comlurb, which will use the BYD T8 electric trucks for waste collection. This will apparently make the fleet the largest fleet of electric trucks outside of China.
H2Haul for fuel cell trucks starts in Europe
The H2Haul project (Hydrogen fuel cell trucks for heavy-duty, zero-emission logistics) has now been officially launched. A total of 16 heavy goods vehicles with fuel cells are to be tested in practice at several locations in Europe.
