Ideanomics takes over Via Motors for electric trucks

Chinese-US fintech and sustainable transport company Ideanomics has acquired US electric utility vehicle manufacturer Via Motors for $450 million. This is Ideanomics’ fourth acquisition in the last 12 months in the electric mobility sector.

Mercedes eCitan to release in 2022

Mercedes-Benz has presented the new Citan and its electric offshoot eCitan. The Citan will be the last new Mercedes van with a combustion engine. At the market launch in September, the combustion engines are still alone, because the eCitan will not be launched until the second half of 2022.

Dynamo offers Maxus e Deliver 3 as high-roof van

In the UK, Dynamo Motor Company is offering converted electric Maxus e Deliver 3 into a high-roof transporter. The conversion increases the electric van’s available storage space from 4.8 m3 to 6 m3 thanks to 350 mm roof extension.

Norwegian public authorities limited to EVs from 2022

The Norwegian government is considering a new directive that would require most new vehicle purchases by public authorities to be electric from 1 January 2022. The proposal will now be subject to a three-month period for consultations and comments before it can come into force.

Nottingham adds Toyota Proace to ‘Electric Van Experience’

The new Toyota Proace Electric is joining a new city electric vehicle initiative that lets businesses test zero-emission vans before deciding on a purchase. The Electric Van Experience (EVE) funded by Highways England, in this case, sees Nottingham City Council take delivery of nine Toyota e-vans.

Stellantis to build electric vans in the UK

The Vauxhall plant in Ellesmere Port is to become an electric vehicle production site: Stellantis has announced that it will turn the plant into a production site for battery-electric commercial vehicles and passenger car models of the Vauxhall, Opel, Peugeot and Citroën brands.

Ford plans electric Transit Custom for 2023

Ford has announced that the next generation of the Transit Custom series will include an all-electric model. The same applies to the Tourneo Custom passenger car counterpart. The vehicles will be manufactured at the Kocaeli site in Turkey from the first half of 2023. Ford is also building an offshoot for partner VW there.

Gnewt marks 10 million zero-emission deliveries

The London-based electric delivery fleet Gnewt has delivered it’s 10 millionth parcel emissions-free. The company estimates to have saved a total of 2.3 million kg of CO2 compared to standard diesel delivery. Gnewt currently operates a 120-strong EV fleet.

UK: UPS rolls-out Rex EVs powered by Tevva Motors

The logistics giant UPS plans to bring 15 electric vans with range extenders onto British roads in the next few weeks and deploy them permanently. In the EVs developed in cooperation with Tevva Motors, a small diesel engine is used to charge the batteries.
