US government funds twelve battery research projects

The US Department of Energy is funding a total of twelve projects to develop better battery cells for electric vehicles with 42 million dollars as part of the ‘Electric Vehicles for American Low-Carbon Living’ (EVs4ALL) programme. The new cells should be able to be charged faster and be more efficient and resistant.

BayBatt opens new battery R&D laboratory

The Bavarian Centre for Battery Technology (BayBatt) at the University of Bayreuth has celebrated the inauguration of its new premises. Covering an area of around 7,000 square metres, the building offers plenty of space for researching and developing batteries for mobile and stationary applications.

Luxembourg is funding 29 charging infrastructure projects

In Luxembourg, the government is funding the construction of 672 additional charging points for electric cars, 44 of which are fast chargers, with more than 4.5 million euros. A total of 29 projects from 19 companies have now been selected as part of the first call for funding.

The British government has again adjusted its electric car subsidy downwards. Both the subsidy rate and the price cap for eligible electric cars have been slightly reduced. There are also new subsidy rules for other electric vehicle types such as vans, motorbikes and mopeds.
