VWN pumps €1.8 billion into future fields
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWN) announces that it intends to spend more than €1.8 billion in the current year 2019 on converting its plants, establishing new business areas and developing new vehicles – the latter with a focus on electric drives.
VW ID.3 to launch at IAA with sub €30,000 pricetag
Following one day after the Group, the Volkswagen brand also held its annual press conference – with some interesting news: Starting 8 May, customers will be able to pre-order a launch edition of the VW ID.3 in order to secure an early production slot by making a down payment.
VW confirms electric vehicle plants in Emden & Hanover
Volkswagen will be investing a total of 44 billion euros in future technologies by 2023 with about 3/4 of the money reserved for e-mobility alone. In accordance with the Boards latest priority, VW now confirmed their facilities in Emden and Hanover as new EV plants that will utilise the MEB platform.

Volkswagen has now confirmed the rumours that have been circulating for days: They will indeed be converting their German plants in Emden and Hanover for the production of electric vehicles in the future, in addition to their plant in Zwickau.

With electrification taking up speed at Volkswagen, their designers are becoming more open-minded. Take the head of design himself, Klaus Bischoff who said he keeps a sketch of an all-electric Beetle under his desk that could make the little icon a tad more exciting.
