British eCargo bike maker EAV finds new funding
Electric Assisted Vehicles (EAV) has completed a funding round led by H+ Partners. Based in Oxfordshire, the company is working to produce enclosed delivery electric bikes and says the funding will help to scale up its operations.
Valeo & Effigear adapt 48V system for e-bikes
The French automotive supplier Valeo is now adapting its 48V systems for electric bicycles. The supplier is launching a solution in cooperation with Effigear that combines a 48V electric motor with an adaptive seven-speed automatic transmission.
Canyon presents four-wheel e-bike concept
The German bicycle and e-bike manufacturer Canyon presented its Future Mobility Concept, a mixture of electric car and pedelec. The four-wheeled vehicle with pedelec drive is designed to be driven on cycle paths or the road.
EAV presents second cargo pedelec
The English startup EAV (Electric Assisted Vehicles), which presented the covered, four-wheeled delivery vehicle with pedelec drive EAVan last year, is now presenting its second model: the 2Cubed with a load volume increased to two cubic metres.
Lime scraps Jump e-bikes

Shimano is launching three new batteries for its Steps electric bike drive system, including internal and external versions with what Shimano claims is unprecedented battery capacity. Also, there are new twelvefold chainrings and a new system display.
Malta launches clean vehicle scheme
The Maltese government is providing 3.5 million euros in subsidies for the changeover to cleaner vehicles. Grants are to be given to anyone who de-registers and scraps their old combustion engine, while grants of between 400 and 6,000 euros are available for electric vehicles ranging from pedelecs to cargo bikes and cars.
GreenStorm to offer hourly e-bike hire in exchange
The Austrian eMobility service provider Greenstorm, which has made a name for itself with an exchange concept for the hotel industry, is expanding its business field. Its subsidiary Green4rent makes it possible to rent e-bikes from partners such as fitness centres or campsites.
Brose has developed a full system for e-bikes
Brose is transforming itself from being an electric bicycle drive supplier to being able to provide a whole system. At the Eurobike Media Days, Brose presented a specially developed e-bike system for the first time and can now offer drives, batteries and displays from a single source.
Uber launches JUMP pedelecs in Berlin
Uber today launched its e-bike-sharing service Jump in Berlin as the first city in Germany with around 1,000 pedelecs. The bright red electric bicycles are now available in 12 districts of the German capital.
ALYI to fill order of ReVolt e-motorcycles in Kenya

Fraunhofer presents fuel cell bicycle
In Germany, the Fraunhofer ISE is undertaking the LiteFCBike project, which is developing a compact fuel cell system offering a fully-fledged replacement for a pedelec battery. The Fraunhofer ISE is currently presenting this hydrogen technology at the Hannover Messe.
GM and Tesla looking to enter e-bike business
General Motors is the most recent major carmaker looking to join the pedelec business. GM announced plans to design two compact electric bikes, one of which will be a folding bike. Also Tesla has hinted at wanting to launch an electric two-wheeler.

There is a most unusual conversion that turns an Audi A4 into a fitness machine. The FitCar PPV is pedal-powered but still said to reach the same performance as the real Audi, only that pedals connected to a flywheel activate the accelerator.
