The city of Los Angeles has suspended Uber’s electric kick scooter and bike permits after the company refused to share data. The corporation rents electric vehicles via their subsidiary Jump and has until Friday to appeal or their permit will be permanently revoked.

Scottish e-bike grants show effects

The Scottish eBike Grant Fund has first results and says it enabled the purchase over 100 e-bikes to 19 organisations across Scotland for 2019/20. Over £273,000 has been granted by the Government so far, with additional grants expected to come through before the end of the year.

Bafang opens e-bike motor plant in Poland

Bafang, the Chinese manufacturer of motors and other components for e-bikes, has opened its first production facility outside of China in Wroclaw, Poland. The new plant should allow a faster supply for European customers.

TU Delft & Gazelle developing crash-proof e-bike (video)

TU Delft, together with the bicycle manufacturer Gazelle, has developed the prototype of a crash-proof e-bike. The intelligent control assistant intervenes as soon as the electric bike threatens to tip over and keeps the bike stable and upright at speeds of over 4 km/h.

Scotland funds e-bikes with half a million pounds

The Scottish government is serving the second round of its eBike Grant Fund designed to help organisations, universities and communities to purchase e-bikes. A total of £462,000 (526,925 euros) will go into buying new e-bikes, including electric cargo bikes.

Austria presents new EV subsidy packet

Austria has updated their subsidy packet for electrified vehicles for the years 2019 and 2020. Notable is that BEVs now receive a unified 3,000 euro subsidy each, but only up to a purchase price of 50,000 euro for private use or 60,000 euros for commercial use.

Hamburg: DPD to deliver with electric vehicles exclusively

Delivery company DPD will electrify their entire fleet in Hamburg by summer next year, meaning they will operate with zero local emissions in the city centre. DPD will incorporate a mix of electric vans and trucks and smaller light electric vehicles such as scooters and bikes.

Paris to launch world’s largest electric bicycle fleet

The greater Paris area will be launching a state-funded initiative to move commuters from driving cars and switch to electric bicycles. Starting in September 2019, Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) will set up 10,000 e-bikes for long-term rental, with an option to expand to 20,000, which would make it the world’s largest e-bike rental programme.
