BMW presents new bike concept and licensing agreement

BMW presents an electric two-wheeler concept in Munich that is somewhere between a motorbike and a scooter. In the course of the IAA, the Munich-based company will also announce the licensing of its e-bike/e-trek scooter duo presented in July to partner companies Cube and SoFlow.

Schaeffler announces chainless e-bike drive

Schaeffler will present the new ‘Free Drive’ chainless electric drive system for bicycles at Eurobike 2021 in Friedrichshafen. The ‘Bike-by-Wire’ system is a joint development with the two-wheel electric drive specialist Heinzmann and does without a mechanical connection between generator and motor.

The pedelec start-up Bio-Hybrid has finally failed. After the management had to file for insolvency in April this year, the search for investors was unsuccessful. The start-up was dissolved in the commercial register in mid-July.

Mobimeo, the German national rail service Deutsche Bahn subsidiary, is taking over parts of the B2B and B2G side of things, while Uber is apparently very interested in taking over the ride-hailing and micromobility-sharing service FreeNow.

Schaeffler Bio-Hybrid GmbH gets a new owner

Schaeffler has sold all shares in its subsidiary Schaeffler Bio-Hybrid GmbH to Micromobility Services and Solutions GmbH, based in Berlin. Series production of the four-wheeled pedelec Bio-Hybrid is scheduled to start in mid-2021 under the new owner.
