The Taiwanese bike manufacturer has announced construction plans for a new factory to manufacture pedelecs in the Hungarian Gyöngyös. Cost for the construction will run up to 46 million euro.

Postal services in Poland and Netherlands go electric

Not only Deutsche Post looks into electrifying their delivery operations. A new initiative by the Dutch PostNL now replaces diesel vehicles with electric cargo bikes in Utrecht. Also the mail service in Poland, Poczta Polska, wants to electrify by developing their own vehicle.

US-China trade war to hit e-bike market with price surge

Trump could be responsible for hitting U.S. sales of electric bikes hard as pedelecs from China are included in a list of goods proposed for a 25% import tariff hike. This would drive prices up a couple of hundred dollars, potentially stifling a strong-going industry.

UPS launches custom-made cargo e-bikes

34 new cargo pedelecs have joined the European fleet of logistics giant UPS. The bikes were specifically developed for the carrier together with Rytle. After initial testing in Germany, the cargo e-bikes are now coming to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

EC wants mandatory e-bike insurance

The European Commission has decided that electric bicycles must have a third party liability insurance. While the draft still needs to go through the EU Council and Parliament, it effectively undermines current legislation that equals pedelecs with bicycles.

Spanish mail service testing electric cargo trikes

The Spanish mail service Correos is currently testing three-wheeled cargo bikes from Bikelecing (BKL), which are equipped with 48 V systems by Continental. The cargo pedelecs will be used for an initial three month period in Madrid, Sevilla, Málaga, Cordoba and Granada.
