Sakuu, a Californian developer of 3D-printed solid-state batteries, has commissioned Porsche’s consulting subsidiary Porsche Consulting to plan its targeted gigafactories worldwide. Sakuu currently operates two facilities in Silicon Valley.

US government funds twelve battery research projects
The US Department of Energy is funding a total of twelve projects to develop better battery cells for electric vehicles with 42 million dollars as part of the ‘Electric Vehicles for American Low-Carbon Living’ (EVs4ALL) programme. The new cells should be able to be charged faster and be more efficient and resistant.

Nio Q2 results remain low due to expensive build-up

Ganfeng Lithium building huge solid-state battery plant
Ganfeng Lithium has begun construction of a solid-state battery production facility, which the company says will be the largest of its kind in China to date. Once completed, the factory in Chongqing will offer annual capacities of 10 GWh each for the production of battery cells as well as battery packs.

Nio confirms plans to release 150 kWh battery in 2022
The Chinese electric carmaker has confirmed its earlier timetables, according to which the first vehicles with the 150 kWh solid-state battery will be delivered this year. There will also be flexible upgrades for existing Nio customers via the company’s battery swap stations.

Posco invests in ProLogium’s solid-state batteries
The South Korean steel group Posco has entered into a cooperation with the Taiwanese solid-state battery cell manufacturer ProLogium. In addition to an undisclosed investment in ProLogium, the agreement provides for the joint development of components for ProLogium’s solid-state batteries.
