Nio boosts EV sales to over 325,000 Units
For some time, Chinese electric vehicle startups Nio and Xpeng developed almost in tandem—one company might outperform the other in a given month, but the lead was never decisive. A year ago, en diciembre de 2024, the Nio Group delivered around 31,138 units, while Xpeng delivered 36,695. However, as Xpeng had a weaker start to 2024, Nio led for the full year with 221,970 electric vehicles sold, compared to Xpeng’s 190,068.
Twelve months later, the landscape has shifted: Nio, with its three brands—Nio, Onvo, and Firefly—achieved steady growth, increasing its sales by 46.9% to 326,028 electric vehicles. Xpeng, however, surged by 126% in 2025 and has pulled ahead of Nio by more than 100,000 vehicles.
What may hearten Nio is its year-end performance in 2025: while Xpeng and other manufacturers like BYD experienced a weak December, Nio delivered strong results with 48,135 vehicles—54.6% higher than the same month the previous year and a faster growth rate than its full-year increase. Overall, the final quarter was exceptionally strong: in Q4, Nio delivered a total of 124,807 vehicles (+71.7%). This means that 38% of all Nio vehicles delivered in 2025 were sold in the fourth quarter.
For December, Nio provided a more detailed breakdown of its sales: of the 48,135 vehicles delivered, 31,897 units were under the Nio brand, 9,154 bore the Onvo logo, and 7,084 small electric cars from the Firefly brand completed the total. While Onvo was the strongest brand for parts of the year, in December, Nio made the largest contribution to the result. However, Nio has not yet broken down its full-year figures by brand.
The company also noted that the Nio ES8 surpassed 40,000 cumulative deliveries in December. Nio introduced a new generation of its flagship SUV last year. Since the start of its deliveries, Nio has reached a total of 997,592 vehicles as of 31 December 2025—missing the one-million milestone by a narrow margin at the year’s end.
