Mennekes to also offer DC charging stations from 2026

The German charging specialist Mennekes, which has already established a business in AC electric vehicle charging cables and wallboxes, is now entering the DC fast-charging station business. Mennekes is acquiring the ownership rights to DC charging systems from Munich-based startup Charge-V as part of an asset deal.

The company says the corresponding product range of DC charging systems will be presented in 2026. The Mennekes fast chargers will be based on the Charge-V product portfolio. Charge-V is a member of the Vispiron Group and was founded five years ago to focus on the development of intelligent DC charging systems.

“We have laid a strong foundation in recent years – technologically, organizationally and in cooperation with partners and customers. Handing over the charging portfolio to Mennekes is a logical step so that our DC products can continue to scale and our customers can benefit from a strong provider,” explains Christopher Lehne, Managing Director of Charge-V.

Amir Roughani, Managing Director of Vispiron and main shareholder of Charge-V, says, “In Mennekes, we have found a partner who can take our vision of powerful, reliable and intelligent charging infrastructure forward and bring it to industrial scale. As Vispiron, we continue to contribute to change by focusing on the development and operation of combined cycle power plants.”

Mennekes intends to use and further develop the Compact 80 and Compact 160 stand-alone charging stations and the Smart 500 dispenser. Charging power will be 80 (or 2 x 40) kW and 160 (or 2 x 80 kW). Managing Director Volker Lazzaro sets the direction for the planned further development of the Mennekes charging systems: “With the Charge-V solutions, we are in an ideal position to further develop them into Mennekes charging solutions with extended functions and a new design in line with our strategic requirements.” According to the company, the focus of the future DC portfolio will be to “offer complete solutions for charging in industry and commerce, including the appropriate services”.

“With the Charge-V solutions, we are in an ideal position to further develop them into Mennekes charging solutions with extended functions and a new design in line with our strategic requirements,” says Mennekes Managing Director Volker Lazzaro. The Charge V charging solution is currently still undergoing calibration certification.

Mennekes is a medium-sized business hailing from the German region of Sauerland and has been preparing its move into the DC business for a long time. Managing Partner Christopher Mennekes described the asset deal as a “logical consequence of our strategic considerations to expand our product portfolio”. “As a leading solution provider for charging infrastructure, we are taking the next step with the new DC systems and corresponding services – everything from a single source, all in proven Mennekes quality,” says Christopher Mennekes.

Earlier this month, Mennekes partnered up with Siemens to simplify the planning of charging infrastructures and electrical energy distribution from a single source. As part of the deal, Mennekes will be the first partner to join Siemens’ Simaris ecosystem.
