Allego lowers HPC rates in the Netherlands by 7 cents
In its press release, the company refers to an ‘HPC price reduction’. However, a look at the Allego app ‘Smoov’ shows that the new price in the Netherlands not only applies to HPC charging points with 150 kW and above, but also to DC charging points with a charging capacity of just 50 kW.
Allego is now quoting a price of 79 cents per kilowatt hour instead of the previous 0.864 euros. However, a glance at the app shows that 79.3 cents per kWh is actually charged. While the difference is hardly significant for small charging quantities, it can still be noticeable for higher or more frequent charging processes. There is no change to the blocking fee of 25 cents per minute, which applies after 45 minutes at the charging station. This still only applies to charging points with 150 kW and above.
“HPC, or High-Power Charging, is at the forefront of the electric mobility revolution, enabling drivers to power up their vehicles in minutes rather than hours. At Allego, we are dedicated to making this advanced technology accessible and affordable for all,” commented Jules Sommers, Managing Director of Allego Netherlands, on the current price reduction. It is not clear from the press release whether the charging infrastructure operator will also lower its charging prices in other countries.
While the new prices for ad-hoc charging and via the app only apply in the Netherlands, Allego introduced the ‘Summer Pass 2025’ a few days ago. Until 30 September, users will receive a 30% discount on the local ad-hoc price at more than 5,000 of Allego’s own fast-charging points throughout Europe and selected charging points in the partner network for a monthly basic fee. However, this cannot be booked via the app, but only via the web portal.
Whether ad hoc charging, using the app or taking out a ‘Summer Pass 2025’ subscription, the AC charging prices will not change. In the Netherlands, users will continue to pay between 39 and 62 cents per kilowatt hour. After five hours at the charging point, a blocking fee of 50 cents per minute applies. However, this will not be charged between 11 pm and 7 am.
