Hubject and Chargemap to expand plug & charge partnership
The two companies already have a long-standing eRoaming collaboration in place, which essentially enables customers of the France-based Chargemap to charge their EVs in other countries using an ‘interchange’ charging network.
The expansion of this partnership will now mean that ChargeMap customers can also take advantage of ISO 15118 Plug & Charge capabilities, meaning that compatible vehicles will be able to automatically authenticate, charge and pay without the need for an app or an RFID card.
ChargeMap will thus have to adopt the ISO 15118 standard and integrate with Hubject’s Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), with the two companies working with chargepoint operators (CPOs) to further expand the availability of Plug & Charge. Hubject has stated that customers can expect to see initial features becoming available later this year following a phased roll-out in the next few months.
Christian Hann, CEO of Hubject, said: “This expanded collaboration with Chargemap marks a significant milestone in our ongoing partnership to simplify EV charging experiences across Europe. Chargemap has been a partner in our interchange network since 2018, with their extensive user community spanning multiple European countries. By enhancing our established eRoaming integration with advanced Plug & Charge technology, we’re establishing a new benchmark for convenience in eMobility.”
Yoann Nussbaumer, CEO of Chargemap, added: “Plug & Charge makes charging simpler and more seamless – exactly what drivers expect, and what’s been at the core of Chargemap’s DNA from the very beginning. That’s why we’re now putting real focus into helping bring this technology to the mainstream and make it accessible to as many EV drivers as possible.”
It’s the latest in a series of new collaborations by Hubject around its Plug & Charge functionality, including ChargeHub, Tritium, Allego, Zemetric and more.
