Charging infrastructure operator Allego has announced its entry into the extended mobility services business. Allego plans to work with Deftpower to develop and launch a new MSP (mobility service provider) platform.

Despite the announcement, Allego has not yet provided any further details of the planned cooperation. Deftpower is a Dutch provider of AI-based charging solutions, which secured €12.5 million in a financing round just a few days ago.

No time frame is mentioned either in the communication, and Allego only writes that this announcement follows the introduction of Plug & Charge by Allego, along with its Summer Pass discount. In a LinkedIn post, a little more was revealed, but the information remained generic: “Our new MSP platform is being developed in partnership with Deftpower, combining Allego’s expertise in charging solutions with Deftpower’s scalable, flexible platform capabilities. The platform will bring innovations that make charging easier, more transparent, and more rewarding for EV drivers,” the company wrote.

“At Allego, our overarching goal is to make EV charging easy and reliable for everyone, powered by renewable energy. By becoming an MSP, we will offer more choice, price transparency, and convenience to our customers, whether they be individuals, SMEs, or large fleets,” said Jean Gadrat, Chief Marketing Officer of Allego. “Partnering with Deftpower enables us to bring this vision to life, combining our charging expertise with their innovative platform capabilities.”

“Allego has an impressive history and an ambitious long-term vision for electrification and sustainability, including creative ideas to make charging both more comfortable and affordable for EV drivers. We are excited to support them as they work to realize that vision,” added Jacob van Zonneveld, CEO of Deftpower.

Allego has had a rather tumultuous year so far, having appointed a new CEO and restructured its board of management in February and March, respectively. Earlier in February, a plan was announced to establish a network of 40,000 HPC charge points by 2028, together with a French CPO alliance.
