Ionity introduces new annual subscriptions
The two new tariffs are called Ionity Power 365 and Ionity Motion 365. They are based on the monthly subscriptions that can still be booked without the addition of ‘365’, and also offer the same charging prices per kilowatt hour – i.e. €0.39/kWh in the Power tariff and €0.49/kWh in the Motion tariff.
The difference between the new annual subscriptions lies in the basic fees: the Power tariff costs €11.99 per month, or €143.88 per year. The discount is smaller for Motion, but the monthly fee is only €5.99. If you use this tariff for twelve months, you would pay €71.88 in basic fees to Ionity. If you pay the basic fees for the annual subscriptions in advance, the new Power 365 tariff currently costs €99.99 and the Motion tariff €49.99 per year.
This means that the basic fee for the Power annual subscription is €43.89 cheaper than on a monthly basis, while the difference for the Motion tariff is €21.89. According to Ionity, the limited-time introductory discount on annual subscriptions will result in “savings of around 30 percent compared to monthly subscriptions over the same period.” From November 7, the regular annual fees will apply: €119.99 for Power 365 and €59.99 for Motion 365. The savings will then be €20 and €10 less, respectively.
Base fee | Charging prices | |
---|---|---|
Ionity Direct | – | €0.75/kWh |
Ionity Go | – | €0.70/kWh |
Ionity Motion | €5.99/month | €0.49/kWh |
Ionity Power | €11.99/month | €0.39/kWh |
Ionity Motion 365 | €59.99/year* | €0.49/kWh |
Ionity Power 365 | €119.99/year* | €0.39/kWh |
One potentially interesting point: anyone who takes out an annual subscription is also guaranteed the agreed charging prices of €0.39/kWh or €0.49/kWh for the duration of the subscription. Ionity sees this as ‘reliable cost predictability.’ “The transparent pricing structure ensures full cost control throughout the subscription period – with no automatic renewals, no hidden fees, and no unexpected charges,” the announcement states.
This means that if charging prices for the Power and Motion subscriptions increase for new customers, you are protected for the duration of your own annual subscription. However, if prices continue to fall, the terms and conditions at the time of signing the contract will remain unchanged.
Customers on the Motion 365 tariff will also have the option of switching to the more expensive Power 365 tariff at any time “if their charging needs increase.” However, there are no plans to allow customers to switch from the Power 365 tariff to the Motion 365 tariff. All subscription customers can also order the Ionity RFID charging card.
“Peace of mind for drivers isn’t just about charging quickly – it’s about knowing that costs are fixed and transparent,” says Ionity CEO Jeroen van Tilburg. “With our new annual plans, drivers can focus on their journeys instead of their bills, confident that their charging rates are locked in for 12 months, whatever the road ahead brings.”
Charging prices in the Ionity Go and Ionity Direct tariffs remain unchanged. Ionity Direct is the ad hoc tariff for charging without registration or an app, which has been charged at €0.75/kWh since May. If you store your data in the Ionity app, the Go tariff offers a small discount to €0.70/kWh – but there are no monthly fees.
